Welcome & Greetings…
It is a great pleasure for me to be your host on this amazing journey down this incredible Path. As for myself, I’m not really important, but I have been on the Path full time for more than ten years now. My spiritual name is ‘Ariyavansa’, which means ‘Noble Heritage’. I was originally ordained in the ‘Way of the Elders’ at the Westend Buddhist Centre of Toronto, where I spent a year and a half before moving to Sri Lanka and the Vajirarama Forest Monastery in Bowalawatte near Kandy. I was there for three years before accepting an invitation to come to Kenya and the Theravada Buddhist Centre of Nairobi. I was there for three years building a vibrant community, but got entrapped in some nasty ‘temple politics’ and left. I now live as an independent Spiritual Mendicant or ‘Bhikkhu’, which means that I am supported by others and their support allows me to continue in my Spiritual Journey and to share the fruits of my efforts with others. I do that in two main ways. One is the Meditation and Dhamma Study Group, which is part of the available Meditation and Buddhist Teachings in Nairobi. The other is to share my exploration of our ‘Noble Heritage’, great teachings left to us by some great teachers, with you through this site. I hope you will not only join me on this journey, but will also contribute to it by adding your thoughts and comments along the way. Our journey is not a scholarly one, it is much more reflective. Our over-riding questions might be, ‘What does this mean to me?’ or ‘How can I use this in my life?’ or even, ‘What comes up when I consider this?’ If we keep these questions in mind and share the product of such questions here on the site, I know our journey will be extremely fulfilling. I look forward to your presence and your thoughts and please feel free to contact me at any time.
Thank you for coming along,
Wishing you much Peace and Happiness always.
Ariyavansa
