Spiritual Practice PageThe last time we spoke of the Spiritual Practice, it was regarding the important aspect of meditation, ‘Mindfulness‘. Today we continue with our look at the fine work of Bhante Gunaratana, Mindfulness in Plain English, and the next selection, which is ‘Mindfulness Versus Concentration‘. In this selection, Mindfulness is explained further in relationship to another important quality, Concentration…

Ideally these two work together as a team. They pull in tandem, so to speak. Therefore it is important to cultivate them side-by-side and in a balanced manner. If one of the factors is strengthened at the expense of the other, the balance of the mind is lost and meditation impossible.

This selection gives us a deeper look at Mindfulness and, like the last one in this project, is extremely insightful. Mindfulness is an important skill that needs to be developed and then used to develop understanding and wisdom. This is another great selection that needs your consideration if your Spiritual Practice is important to you.

If you find your mind extremely active, then simply observe the nature and degree of that activity. It is just a part of the passing show within.
